The name of the Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Malik Basintale, has taken the top spot on social media trends following the announcement of the preparatory team for John Mahama’s anti-corruption program, Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).
John Dramani Mahama, the President-elect, on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, announced a five-member team headed by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, to begin the groundwork for the possible investigation and prosecution of members of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government who are found to have engaged in acts of corruption.
The members of the team include former Auditor-General Daniel Yao Domelevo, retired Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, renowned private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu, and investigative journalist Raymond Archer.
Following the announcement, Malik Basintale’s name has taken centre stage on social media trends as some question his absence from the team.
The query is justified by the announcement by Sammy Gyamfi during the NDC’s final campaign ahead of the 2024 elections that Basintale was going to be a member of the ORAL committee.
While critics question his absence, others believe that Basintale will eventually earn an appointment as the spokesperson of the team.
